Derek comes to Wine By Joe via the L.A. aerospace industry where he worked as a Reliability Engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company. He escaped L.A. with his wife, Pam, an RN, and son Ian and attended U.C. Davis where he received his B.S. degree in Enology in 1993. Derek worked in the California wine industry until moving to Oregon in 1996 to work with Joe at a winery in Salem. He rejoined Joe at Wine By Joe during the 2005 harvest. He says that he is, “having a good time now.”
